Meta Performance Center Holiday Classic

Push Pull Competition

Saturday, December 8th

Weigh-ins @7:30, Lifter Meeting @9:00 am, Lifting @ 10:00 am

What’s a push-pull Competition?
Push-pull means a competition of Bench Press and Deadlift.  You may compete in both lifts, or either one separately.

What’s a lifting competition like?  I’ve never done one before, can I try it out?

New competitors are always welcome, whatever your level.  Please feel free to call or stop into Meta Performance Center to ask our staff about competing.  In a competition, each lifter has three attempts for each lift, and the best successful attempt counts towards their meet total.     There is some strategy to this, for example, generally the first attempt should be something the lifter is confident they will be able to lift easily.  A separate warm-up area is provided for lifters to prepare for their attempts.

Where is the competition to take place?

Inside Meta Performance Center.  We are located inside Forever Health & Fitness at 5 Courthouse Lane, Chelmsford, MA 01824.

How do I enter and how much does it cost?

You can get an entry form here. The entry fee is $20, just return the entry form with payment (Cash, Check, Paypal to metaperformancecenter@gmail.com).  Checks should be made payable to MetaPerformance Center.  Enter Early – entries may be limited due to facility capacity.

What are the Age Divisions?

OPEN: (no category restrictions)

JUNIOR: 13 to and including 23, with age divisions of 13-15, 16-17, 18-19, 20-23

MASTER: 35 to 39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+

What does RAW vs. Equipped mean?

Basically, equipped means you’re using a bench shirt or specialty deadlift suit.  This is equipment meant to greatly enhance your ability to lift heavy weights vs. not using it.  We place equipped lifters into a separate category for purposes of calculating meet placement.  Please direct further equipment questions to Meta Performance Center Staff.

RAW: You must wear a one piece non-supportive single ply singlet, knee high socks for deadlift and shoes. Allowed: knee sleeves, wrist wraps, belt and regular socks on bench.

EQUIPPED: Must wear a one piece single ply lifting suit, knee high socks for deadlift and shoes. Allowed: belt, knee wraps, wrist wraps, bench shirt and regular socks on bench.

Will this meet be sanctioned by a federation?

No.  Other than lifting in standard gym weights rather than competition kilo weights, we will be following USPF rules.  We intend to hold sanctioned meets beginning in the New Year.
