So today was a bust. I found out shortly before my training session that the competition I’ve been training for has been postponed to end of April. This was not the fault of the meet promoter, but it is super disappointing to me, and throws off my training plan for 2017. I’ll make a new plan of course, but this took the wind out of my sails. I was really looking forward to competing soon.
My deadlifting was disappointing. I missed 355 which would have been a true double bodyweight pull. I really believe that’s all in my head. 335 went up very easily and I’ve always struggled mentally with heavy pulling. Objectively, my ability to rep moderate weights is way up, and I’ve always been rather inconsistent on the heavy pulls, especially in a training environment. I used to miss 315 on the regular, so I’m not too worried about the long term, but I was disappointed. Also, my motivation was in the toilet.
I did my front squat sets and was not too happy with my performance here either. Then I did my wide grip pullups and some Romanian deadlifts. I was really struggling to focus, so I called the day after that. There is no need to punish myself further. I’ll take the extra recovery and regroup. Sat we’ll have events and I’ll be better.
