Log Press Away – 2 x 3-4, 160 x2, 160 x3
Barbell Hip Thrust – 3 x 8, 140, 140, 140
Calf Raises – 3 x 25, 80, 80, 80
Have I mentioned lately that I love log? Because I do. I did the log pressing first today for a couple of reasons, and it went well. I was a bit in my head during the first set and had trouble reracking the log. I failed rep 3 and decided to just take the double and regroup. Then on the first clean on the second set, I nearly passed out. I was a little too aggressive with the clean and I was experimenting with a different method of breathing – not topping off my air in the rack. I decided oxygen is necessary going forward. So, I put the log down, undid my belt, and reset. I came back and knocked out 3 reps without even recleaning the log. I was very happy with this effort and looking forward to seeing what I can put up next time.
I moved onto squats and I decided to try squatting in a belt and knee sleeves for the first time. I was surprised how nice it was, except for putting on knee sleeves in a hot gym of course. Squats felt very strong today. I am enjoying back squatting quite a bit.
The barbell hip thrusts are kind of a pain, but they are good for me. I finished up with the calf raises which are going great.
I’m pretty stoked for the log PR. A very solid day for me.
